Today I am writing a review about something that makes part of my daily cleansing routine. No matter how I interchange products I always add this transparent gel on my face, neck, and neckline. No matter what, especially in the evening. And why? Here I explain why.
I’m keeping this tube of Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel inside a plastic box in the refrigerator. You know how summers are, our skin is thirsty for something that is refreshing, that is beneficial at the same time, not just water. When I put some gel on my fingers, I feel the coldness, and then I put this coldness on my face, by tapping it. The feel soothing soothing, refreshing…. And it is also the beginning of my wellness.
And what is so special about this gel? The ingredients are absolutely fantastic: aloe vera and propolis. But wait, there is more than that.
The whole list of ingredients is as follows:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (80%) A true concentration of pure Aloe Vera Juice
Propolis Extract (10%) A medium to high concentration, when 1-2% is already considered appropriate for skin cosmetics
Glycerin. It has many benefits on the skin: treats acne, blackheads, wrinkles, scars, and it is a skin protector.
Arginine. A non-essential amino acid antibacterial
Allantoin. A safe chemical in skin care. It treats scars and it’s a great moisturizer
Betaine. An anti-irritant aminoacid. It calms the skin, soothes and protects
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract. Recommended for skin irritations, fights acne, soothes, protects
Portulaca Oleracea Extract. Works against wrinkles, clears the skin, giving radiance to it.
Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Cross Polymer. A safe polymer that gives the viscosity to this gel.
Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract. Antimicrobial
Pulsatilla Koreana Extract. Works against bumps and inflammation due to pimples.
Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract. It has antibiotic properties, and it helps the skin to fight against bacteria.
There is a beautiful Korean legend about one of the ingredients of this wonderful gel. But I will leave it to the end 🙂
The main ingredients are Aloe Barbadensis leaf and Propolis, two elements that give to this gel their effective properties, but also because of their purity.
Back in time, I used to read a book about the properties of aloe vera. I had aloe in the garden and did not know how lucky I was until I read that book. It was a medical study of the properties of aloe barbadensis in different groups of people, mainly suffering from psoriasis and hair loss. The study proved how aloe vera cured so many patients when applying aloe vera directly on the skin but also drinking aloe vera juice. The effect by aloe vera was most probably because it had an effect at the level of its capacity to create auto-immune reactions to its use. I read in that book that psoriasis is more a stress condition than a skin condition. And that many patients had psoriasis after some sort of emotional guilt, especially for not having expressed their feelings regarding a determined issue, problem or circumstance in their lives. I discovered through that book so many virtues regarding aloe vera! Its properties are many, and the same happens with propolis.
It is made by the bee, when it takes resin from trees. Then bees mix this with honey and they fill cracks inside the beehive. It has incredible properties regarding wounds, because it helps close the wound, and also protects from infection.
WHEN DO I APPLY IT ?
I apply it after applying the essence and before applying an ampoule or serum. I guess I treat it as an emulsion.
I leave it for a while because, in the beginning, my face has not yet absorbed the whole product. I massage sweetly and then leave it for about five minutes.
My skin looks hydrated but especially protected. The redness goes away. If I have a pimple, it soothes it and helps it go away. I love this gel and I have not tried any other brand that makes the same. I love the fact that Benton makes these products with such purity. But it is very important to read the expiration date and how many months it has of use after opening it because the product is botanical and doesn’t have chemical preservatives.
If you keep it in the fridge it will last a bit more than usual. Mine is still perfect.
I suppose there are other brands that make this kind of product, but I simply love what works for me right now, and I am stuck to this Benton Aloe Propolis soothing gel.
Every time I buy one, I feel blessed because I know it works.
Here is the Korean legend (it has to do with one of the ingredients: Pulsatilla Koreana)
Pulsatilla koreana is called the “grandmother flower” in Korea. A long time ago, according to a fairy tale, there was a widow who had two daughters. The older daughter married a rich man but the younger daughter married a man who wasn’t as luxurious. Time passed and the widow was now very old and she decided to visit her two daughters. However the older one refused to let her stay and she was forced out of the house. So the widow turned to her younger daughter. But she lived very far away over many mountains. The widow fainted while going over the mountain from exhaustion. Some hours later, the younger daughter found her mother but it was already too late and she ended up dying. The younger daughter was extremely sad and buried her near the house. The next spring, a flower bloomed over her grave. The flower was bent like her mother’s back. So the daughter believed her mother had come back as the “grandmother flower”. Wikipedia
